When shipping any materials and/or equipment to ELI-NP for preparing your experimental setup,
you must take into account all of the national and international laws and regulations
surrounding the import/export process to and from Romania.
Additionally, we recommend that you arrange to have your materials and/or equipment shipped
to ELI-NP as soon as possible, so as to avoid any delays in implementing the setup and running
your experiment during its allocated beamtime.
If your proposed experimental setup requires any materials or equipment that are not already
available on-site at ELI-NP, our shipping address is the following:
ELI-NP, Str. Reactorului nr. 30, MÄgurele, Jud. Ilfov, Romania, 077125
However, there are certain guidelines that should be followed so as to minimize both the
duration and cost of each transport, as well as the necessary paperwork.
Starting with 1st January 2025, Romania has become a full member of the Schengen area and thus all border controls for EU or EEA citizens have been lifted for air, sea and land travel.
ELI-NP cannot assist Users shipping equipment and/or materials from outside the EU or EEA with any of the paperwork required to complete the necessary customs procedures following the arrival of the goods on Romanian territory. Users will thus need to contract the services of a parcel forwarding company with an EU or EEA-based office, who can act as the consignee of the delivery and process its import into the territory of the EU or EEA, then ship it onward to ELI-NP. As a publicly funded research institute, ELI-NP cannot cover any customs fees on behalf of its Users. All prospective Users will thus be responsible for the payment of any taxes and fees incurred as part of the customs process when shipping any equipment and/or materials from their home country to ELI-NP and vice-versa at the end of their beamtime.
